The short version

  • You own your screenshots and everything you make from them. We only use them to do the work you ask for, and we never train AI models on them.
  • AI makes mistakes. Check a result before you publish it. Exports carry an invisible "AI-assisted" label; don't remove it to mislead people.
  • Paid plans and top-ups are sold by Paddle, our merchant of record. Plans renew every month or every year, as you choose, until you cancel; top-ups are one-off. Cancel online anytime from the credits pill in the app, then Cancel plan; you keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Fonts you upload need a licence that lets you use them this way. That is up to you.
  • Don't use scrimpl for anything illegal or to deceive people.
  • There is no uptime promise. If something goes wrong, our liability is limited to what you paid in the last 12 months, or €100 if that is more, except where the law does not allow a limit.

This agreement

These Terms are an agreement between you and Milos Zdrale, Sime Milutinovića Sarajlije 1, 71123 Istočno Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina ("scrimpl", "we", "us"). You accept them when you sign in or create an account, where the app says "By continuing, you agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy", or by using scrimpl. If you use scrimpl for a company or other organisation, you accept them on its behalf and confirm that you are allowed to.

The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. Business customers can also rely on the Data Processing Addendum. You must be at least 16 to use scrimpl and at least 18 to buy a paid plan.

The service

scrimpl is an app for your Mac (the Mac app, or the same app opened in your browser on your Mac), with a Chrome extension and a connector for AI agents. It turns product screenshots into simplified, edited, branded images and short videos. Your library stays on your Mac. Your account, plan and credits are kept online, and AI features run through the scrimpl API on Claude, made by Anthropic.

scrimpl is new. Features, plans and limits may change. We will tell you before a change takes away something you have paid for.

Your account

You need a scrimpl account to use AI features. You sign in with your email and a password, with a 6-digit code we email you, or with Google, so use an email address that is yours, keep your password and email secure, and don't share your account with other people. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for the security of your Mac. Your library is on your Mac, not in your account: we cannot recover screenshots or versions you deleted from your Mac.

Plans and credits

  • Free includes a number of credits each month, as shown on the pricing page and in the app. Its exports carry no visible mark.
  • Pro and Studio are subscriptions with more credits each month. You choose to pay monthly or yearly, at the price shown on the pricing page and at checkout before you pay. A yearly plan is paid for the year in advance and gives you its credits month by month, the same each month as the monthly plan.
  • Top-ups are one-off purchases of extra credits, on any plan, at the price shown on the pricing page and at checkout. They never renew.
  • Credits. AI work uses credits; the credits menu in the app shows what each action costs. A request that fails is not charged. Your plan's credits reset each month and do not roll over. Top-up credits do not reset and do not expire while your account is active, and they are used only once your plan's credits for the month have run out. Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred and end when you delete your account.

Payment through Paddle

Our paid plans and top-ups are sold by our reseller, Paddle: Paddle.com Market Limited, or Paddle.com Inc. if you are in the United States, or Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd if you are in Canada. Paddle is the merchant of record: when you subscribe or buy a top-up, you buy from Paddle, which takes the payment, sends the receipt and invoice, charges VAT or sales tax and handles refunds and payment questions. Prices on the pricing page exclude VAT and sales tax; the checkout adds them where they apply. Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to the purchase; these Terms apply to your use of scrimpl.

Automatic renewal

Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each period you chose: every month for a monthly plan, every year for a yearly plan. At each renewal Paddle charges the payment method you gave it, until you cancel. Before you subscribe, the checkout shows you the price, taxes, what is included and when it renews. Top-ups never renew. If the price changes, we will tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal, and you can cancel before the new price applies.

Cancel online, anytime

You can cancel in the app: click the credits pill in the top bar, then Cancel plan. You can also cancel in Paddle's customer portal, which the app links to. No email, call or chat is needed. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the plan and its credits until the end of the period you have paid for (the month, or the year of a yearly plan, which keeps giving its monthly credits until then), then you move to Free. Top-up credits you bought stay yours. Your library is never affected.

Refunds and the right of withdrawal

Refunds for plans and top-ups are made by Paddle, as the merchant of record, to the payment method you used. If you are a consumer in the EU, the EEA or the UK, you have the right to withdraw from a new subscription or a top-up within 14 days and get a full refund, as set out in Paddle's Buyer Terms. Because scrimpl is a digital service that starts at once, Paddle's checkout asks you to agree that it starts right away; if you then use it within the 14 days, you may lose that right, as the law allows.

Apart from that, if something went wrong, such as a double charge, or a renewal you meant to cancel and have not used, write to hello@scrimpl.com within 14 days of the charge and we will ask Paddle to refund it. We also refund wherever the law requires. When a plan or a top-up is refunded, the credits it gave that you have not used are removed.

Your content

"Your content" means the screenshots, text, instructions, fonts and brand assets you bring to scrimpl, and the results scrimpl makes from them. You own your content. You give us permission to handle it only as far as needed to provide scrimpl to you, for example to send a screenshot to Claude when you ask for a Simplify. That permission ends when you delete the content, apart from copies the law requires us to keep.

You are responsible for your content. You need the right to use the screenshots you import, including other companies' interfaces and logos, and other people's personal data, that appear in them. scrimpl offers tools to blur personal information or replace it with made-up names, but it does not check your content for you.

Fonts and logos

Fonts you upload. You can use your own fonts in scrimpl. Upload a font only if its licence allows you to use it in an app like scrimpl and to embed it in the images, SVGs and videos you export: many desktop font licences do not. The font files stay on your Mac. We don't host, distribute or check the fonts you upload, and you are responsible for licensing them. scrimpl's own font, Geist, is free under the SIL Open Font License.

Logos. scrimpl can find a product's logo on its public website and place it in a screenshot of that product. Logos belong to their owners. Use them only where you are allowed to, for example to show that company's own product, and not in a way that suggests a partnership or endorsement that doesn't exist.

No training on your content

We do not use your content to train or improve AI models, and we do not sell it or give it to anyone to do so. Our AI provider, Anthropic, states in its commercial terms that it may not train models on data sent through its API.

AI results and their label

Results come from an AI model and can be wrong: a number changed, a label dropped, a layout off. Check every result before you publish it. Similar requests can produce similar results for other people. As between you and us, the results you make are yours, to the extent the law allows them to be owned.

Images you export as PNG or SVG carry an invisible, machine-readable label in their metadata that says they are AI-assisted and made with scrimpl (see AI-assisted output marking). It is there so people can tell how an image was made, as the EU AI Act expects. Don't remove or change it in order to make people believe an image was not made or edited with AI. If you publish AI-edited images in a way that could mislead people about real facts, the law may also require you to say that they were edited.

Acceptable use

Do not use scrimpl to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including copyright, trademarks, privacy and data protection;
  • make fake receipts, bank statements, chats, reviews, documents or screenshots meant to deceive or defraud someone, or to impersonate a person or a company;
  • create content that sexualises minors, harasses or threatens people, or promotes violence;
  • break Anthropic's Usage Policy, which applies to everything sent to Claude;
  • get around credits, limits or security measures, attack the scrimpl API or servers, or reverse-engineer scrimpl except where the law allows it;
  • resell scrimpl's AI features, or offer them as a service to others, without our written agreement.

We may suspend AI features for an account that breaks these rules. Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first and tell you why.

Other services

Paddle's checkout, AI agents you connect to scrimpl, your browser's speech recognition and the websites scrimpl reads for brands and logos are provided by others under their own terms. We are not responsible for them.

scrimpl's software

While these Terms apply, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use scrimpl. The Mac app updates itself; an update may add, change or remove features, within the promise in The service. scrimpl, its name, logo and design belong to us. Open-source components are used under their own licences, listed in the third-party notices that ship with scrimpl. If you send us feedback, we may use it freely and without obligation to you.

Availability: no SLA

scrimpl's AI features depend on the internet, on our API and on Anthropic's, Vercel's and Supabase's services, which can be slow or unavailable. We work to keep scrimpl running well, but we do not promise any particular uptime or response time, and there is no service level agreement (SLA) unless we sign one with you separately. Keep a backup of your library: it is a folder on your Mac.

Disclaimer

To the extent the law allows, scrimpl is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties that it will fit a particular purpose or run without interruption. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights the law gives you, including the legal guarantee that digital services conform to the contract, and nothing in these Terms takes them away.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • neither you nor we are liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill;
  • our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to scrimpl or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for scrimpl in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim, and (b) €100.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, these limits apply only as far as the law of the country you live in allows.

Indemnity (business customers)

If you use scrimpl for a business, you will compensate us for reasonable costs, including legal fees, arising from a third-party claim that your content or your use of scrimpl broke the law or these Terms. This does not apply to consumers.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using scrimpl at any time and delete your account in the app (the credits pill, then Delete account). Deleting it also cancels a paid plan at once; to keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for, cancel the plan instead and delete your account later. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, or if the law requires it; where reasonable, we will tell you first. If we stop offering scrimpl, we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund any part of a paid month or year you can no longer use, and the top-up credits you have not used. Your library stays on your Mac whatever happens.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change matters to you, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it applies and ask you to accept it again. If you do not agree, you can cancel and stop using scrimpl before it applies. Your account stores the version you accepted and when.

Law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina, without regard to their conflict-of-law rules, and disputes go to the competent courts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. If you are a consumer, this choice does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may also bring a claim in the courts there. Before going to court, please write to hello@scrimpl.com: most problems are solved faster that way.
