The short version
- Changed your mind? Ask within 30 days of any payment, for a new plan, a renewal or a top-up, and you get the full amount back. You don't have to give a reason.
- Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record, makes the refund, to the card or account you paid with.
- Ask at paddle.net, from the link in your Paddle receipt, or by writing to hello@scrimpl.com.
- A refund ends what that payment paid for: a plan goes back to Free, a top-up's unused credits are removed. Your library on your Mac is never touched.
- Cancelling a plan is not a refund: it stops the next renewal, and you keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for.
- Your legal rights as a consumer always apply on top of this policy.
Who makes refunds
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
In plain words: when you buy a scrimpl plan or a top-up, you buy it from Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited, or Paddle.com Inc. in the United States, or Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd in Canada). Paddle takes the payment, sends the receipt, charges VAT or sales tax, and makes every refund. We are happy to help with any of it: write to us and we'll sort it out with Paddle for you.
30 days, for any reason
You can ask for a full refund within 30 days of the date you were charged, for any reason. This covers:
- A new Pro or Studio plan, monthly or yearly;
- Each renewal of a plan, for example a renewal you forgot to cancel;
- A top-up of credits.
You get back everything you paid for that payment, tax included. Paddle's checkout may ask you to agree that scrimpl starts right away; that does not take away these 30 days.
We, and Paddle, may refuse a refund only where there is clear evidence of fraud or refund abuse, for example buying and refunding again and again to get free credits. That is the same rule as in Paddle's Refund Policy.
How to ask
Use whichever is easiest for you:
- At Paddle: go to paddle.net, find your order with the email you paid with, and choose Request refund.
- From your receipt: the email receipt Paddle sent you has a link to manage or get help with your order.
- In the EU: Paddle's customer portal (the "Manage subscription" or "Manage transaction" link in your receipt) also has a withdrawal button during the 14-day legal withdrawal period.
- From us: write to hello@scrimpl.com from your account's email, and tell us which payment. If you have it, add the order number from Paddle's receipt. We ask Paddle to refund it.
Paddle sends the money back to the payment method you used, normally within 14 days of approving the request. Your bank may take a few more days to show it.
After a refund
- A refunded plan payment ends that plan: it no longer renews, and your account moves to Free, with Free's monthly credits.
- A refunded top-up removes the credits it gave that you have not used yet. Other top-up credits stay yours.
- Your library (your screenshots, versions and everything you made) stays on your Mac and is never affected. What you exported is yours to keep.
Mistakes and problems
Charged twice, or charged for a renewal after you cancelled it? Write to us whenever you notice, and we will have it refunded. Bought the wrong plan, the wrong billing period, or a top-up by mistake? Tell us within the 30 days and we will refund it so you can buy the right one.
If scrimpl doesn't work as described and we can't fix it, you get a refund as consumer law requires, even after the 30 days.
Cancelling
You can cancel a plan online at any time: in the app, click the credits pill in the top bar, then Cancel plan. You can also cancel in Paddle's customer portal (the link in your receipt) or at paddle.net. No email, call or chat needed.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep the plan and its credits until the end of the period you paid for, then move to Free. To get money back for the current period as well, ask for a refund within the 30 days.
Your legal rights
Nothing in this policy takes away the rights the law gives you. If you are a consumer in the EU, the EEA, Switzerland or the UK, you also have a legal right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days, as set out in Paddle's Buyer Terms and Refund Policy. Where the law where you live, or Paddle's policies, give you more, that applies.
This policy is part of our Terms of Service. Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to the purchase itself.
