The short version

  • This website sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. No analytics, no ads, no pixels, no third-party scripts or fonts, except Paddle's on the checkout page.
  • The scrimpl app, which runs on your Mac, uses a sign-in cookie and stores your preferences on your Mac. That is all.
  • Paddle's checkout, when you buy a plan, uses the cookies it needs for the payment.
  • Because nothing optional is set, there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to accept or reject.

This website

scrimpl.com sets no cookies and uses no local storage. It loads no analytics, advertising or social media code, no embedded content from other sites, and no third-party fonts or scripts (the one exception is the checkout page, below): its fonts, images and films come from our own server. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard request logs (IP address, browser, page, time) for a short time, for security and to run the service.

Checkout

When you buy a plan in the app, it opens our checkout page, scrimpl.com/pay, which loads the checkout of Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle's checkout may use the cookies and similar storage it needs to take the payment and prevent fraud, under Paddle's privacy policy. That page opens only when you start a purchase; nothing of Paddle's loads anywhere else on this website.

The scrimpl app

The app runs on your Mac and is served from your Mac (localhost). It uses these cookies, all first-party:

NamePurposeLastsType
ss_sessionKeeps you signed in. Holds a random sign-in token; only its hash is stored. Page scripts cannot read it.30 days, renewed while you use scrimplStrictly necessary
ss_demoRemembers that you opened the sample library, so it stays open when the page reloads. Set only when you open it.30 days, or until you leave the samplesStrictly necessary for a feature you asked for
ss_testlibFor developers testing scrimpl: points the editor at a test library. Not set in normal use.Until the browser closesStrictly necessary (testing)

The app also keeps these in its browser storage on your Mac. None of it is sent anywhere:

WhatPurpose
Preferences (ss.*)Your choices in the editor: style, frame, export size, panels, view settings
Brand kit, fonts and style referencesYour logo, colours, fonts and reference images
Account sync markers (ssacct.*)Whose settings are loaded, and whether a change still has to be saved
Session flagsShort-lived notes such as "show the first-run tour", cleared when the window closes

Why there is no cookie banner

EU rules, and similar rules elsewhere, require your consent before a site stores anything that is not strictly necessary for a service you asked for. scrimpl only stores what is needed for the features you use, so there is nothing to ask. If we ever add analytics or anything else optional, it will stay off until you agree, and Reject will be as easy as Accept.

Your control

You can clear cookies and site data for scrimpl in your browser's settings at any time. Clearing them signs you out and resets your preferences on that browser; your library on your Mac is not affected.
